he Directorate of Investment and Company Administration (DICA) says it is conducting a survey to create a database of direct investments.

The move aims keep to records of foreign investments up to international and Asean standards.

Quality statistics were essential for development, DICA said. Currently, the lists of foreign direct investments covers only investments approved by the Myanmar Investment Commission.

It does not include the overseas investment in special economic zone, other economic sectors and loans granted by parent companies.

DICA plans to conduct the survey every year.

DICA and analysts from Asean and the EU jointly carried out a survey of 14 firms in Yangon which had received foreign-direct investment.

According to the Myanmar Investment Law, which will take effect in April, foreign-invested companies registered with the DICA shall submit their annual financial reports.
